Omega-3 Benefits

Omega-3 Benefits
1,000 mg a day of a fish oil concentrate reduced the risk of sudden death from heart‐related causes by 45% - April 9, 2002 issue of Circulation
Women who consumed a minimum of five servings of fish per week over a 16‐year period lowered their risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) by more than a third, and reduced their risk of fatal heart attack by half. - April 10, 2002 issue of JAMA
Men without heart disease were 81% less likely to experience sudden death due to fatal arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) when their blood levels of omega‐3 fatty acids were high regardless of their age, smoking habits or amount of other types of fatty acids in their blood. - April 11, 2002 New England Journal of Medicine
Patients who ate fish and had high serum levels of alpha linolenic acid (ALA), (EPA), and (DHA) reduced their risk of all‐cause mortality in direct relation to the amounts consumed. Patients who consumed the most omega‐3 had a 55% lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease, heart attack, and stroke, and a 51% lower risk of death from coronary artery disease. - American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (July 2003).
Scientific Research on Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids
Omega-3 essential fatty acids are a form of polyunsaturated fats. These are one of four basic types of fat that the body derives from food. (Cholesterol, saturated fat and monounsaturated fat are the others). Consumption of high amounts of food rich in saturated fats has been associated with degenerative diseases such as heart disease and even cancer.
However, consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids such as omega-3s is actually good for you. Omega-3 essential fatty acids are reported to be beneficial in controlling many metabolic disorders such as cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, psychological disorders, inflammatory conditions (including arthritis), skin disorders and non-insulin-dependent (or type II) diabetes.
Omega-3s are considered “essential” fatty acids because they are essential to human health but cannot be manufactured by the body. They must be obtained through the diet or supplementation. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are two important omega-3 fatty acids. Both EPA and DHA are found primarily in cold-water fish.

Cardiovascular Benefits
Omega-3 essential fatty acids may be helpful for a variety of health concerns. Its best-documented benefits are for heart disease and problems that contribute to heart disease.3 The body uses Omega-3s as one of the primary structural components to form membranes surrounding our cells.1, 2 Without a sufficient supply of polyunsaturated omega-3s, the body will use saturated fat to construct cell membranes.
This results in cell membranes and blood vessels that are less elastic, which has a negative effect on the cardiovascular system. Studies suggest that EPA and DHA found in fish oil aid in reducing risk factors for heart disease, including high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Studies have shown that the more omega-3 fatty acids people consume, the lower their overall blood pressure is.4, 5 Those who live in areas of the world where consumption of omega-3s from fish is higher tend to have higher levels of HDL (or good) cholesterol levels and decreased levels of triglycerides (fatty material that circulates in the blood).6, 7, 8

Supplements containing EPA and DHA have been shown to reduce LDL (or bad) cholesterol and triglycerides. Strong evidence also suggests that these substances can help prevent and treat atherosclerosis by inhibiting the development of arterial plaque and blood clots, which both tend to clog arteries.9, 10
Omega-3 fatty acids have the ability to decrease the stickiness of blood cells (called platelet aggregation).11 This reduces such complications as blood clots and stroke. DHA and EPA also act as antioxidants.12 These effects prevent damage to the heart and reduce the risk of heart diseases.
Joint Health

Omega-3 fatty acids may decrease inflammation and reduce pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis.13 EPA and DHA are successful at keeping the body free from inflammation because they can be converted into natural anti-inflammatory substances called prostaglandins and leukotrienes, compounds that help
decrease inflammation and pain.14, 15

While most research has focused on the positive effects of Omega-3 essential fatty acids on rheumatoid arthritis, they may also be helpful for osteoarthritis and other joint conditions. In some laboratory studies, omega-3 fatty acids decreased inflammation and reduced the activity of enzymes that destroy cartilage.16,17

Diabetes
Diabetics may benefit from taking supplements that contain EPA and DHA. Low HDL and high triglyceride levels tend to be associated with people who have type II diabetes. Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oils have been shown to help raise HDL (good cholesterol) and lower triglycerides (fatty material in the blood). 18,19

Osteoporosis
Studies suggest that people who are lacking in certain essential fatty acids (like EPA) are more likely to suffer from bone loss than those with normal levels of these fatty acids. Omega-3s such as EPA help increase calcium absorption in the body, in part by enhancing the effects of vitamin D, reducing urinary excretion of calcium and increasing calcium deposition in bone. All of these improve bone strength and enhance the synthesis of bone collagen. These effects from essential fatty acids will benefit menopausal women, who are prone to bone loss, and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
Supplementation with calcium and omega-3 essential fatty acids has been shown to be effective in reducing and preventing osteoporosis in the elderly.20

Skin Health
Essential fatty acid metabolism seems to play a crucial role both in the pathogenesis and treatment of skin conditions such as psoriasis.21 One study showed that people treated with medications and omega-3 fatty acids for psoriasis did better than those treated with medications alone.22 Another study administered
over a 12-month period indicated that that EPA could be beneficial for the long-term treatment of psoriasis.23

Eye and Nervous System Health
DHA plays a critical role in the development of the visual and central nervous system.24 Increased intake of
omega-3 fatty acids has been associated with a decreased risk of developing macular degeneration,25 which is a leading cause of vision loss in the elderly. Lower levels of brain DHA is associated with cognitive impairment.26
In 2001, the FDA allowed DHA to be added to infant formula. Not only does DHA help infant brain development, it may also prevent post-partum depression in nursing mothers.27 Human adults maintain a constant level of DHA in brain tissue. Supplementation of DHA may be helpful in the prevention of psychological disorders such as depression, schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease.28,29 Scientific studies
have found that low levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the blood are associated with depression.30
While DHA plays an important role in the development of the nervous system, it also protects nervous tissues31 and may be of benefit in preventing nerve damage.32

Gratitude

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way."

I wrote: "Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it."

Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have! Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling. And even more beautiful, knowing that you are the reason behind it!!! Catch yourself when you start complaining about what you don't have.

Remember; where there is life, there is hope.

Enjoy your day with a heart of gratitude.

“You have but one life to live, love and laugh...What are You waiting for?”

Today 3/18/14

I found out today that the man I spent 8.5 years with is no longer here and is in the presences of HIS Creator the REAL God of REAL love.

He chose alcohol, he chose to allow others to treat him with dis honor, dis respect, ...... that is why I left him Jan 2, 2014 because I refused to see some one that I loved so very much commit slow motion suicide ever again.

He chose to hold onto unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, resentment, ......and like a half frozen rattle snake it bit him. His heart and body could not take it anymore; he is with his Abba, Papa, Daddy, ......Father God.

The use of alcohol, pornography, food, workaholics, addictions to ALL drugs, addictions to religion, to anything, ......is a symptom of the heart looking for REAL love in ALL the wrong places. Addictions are the bandages used by hurting souls to try and numb their hurting, unfulfilled, full of fear hearts,....from all the pains they have chosen to hold onto.

HIS REAL love.....

True North!

1 Corinthians 13:1 Speaking in tongues is not the point; love is. It is neither angelic eloquence, nor the mastery of human language that persuades. It doesn’t matter how poetic, prophetic, or profound I may sound; my conversation is reduced to the hollow noise of clanging brass cymbals if love’s echo is absent. (The Greek word for the love of God is agape from the word, agoo, meaning to lead like a shepherd guides his sheep, and pao, meaning to rest, i.e. “he leads me beside still waters.” By the waters of reflection my soul remembers who I am. [Ps 23]. God’s rest is established upon his image and likeness redeemed in us. Thus, to encounter agape is to remember who I am. Jesus the Savior of humankind rescued God’s image and likeness in human form. The grace of God shines as bright as day making the salvation of humankind undeniably visible [Titus 2:11].)

13:2 I could predict the future in detail and have a word of knowledge for everyone. I could possess amazing faith, and prove it by moving mountains! It doesn’t make me any more important than anyone else. Love is who you are! You are not defined by your gift or deeds. (Love gives context to faith. Moving mountains is not the point, love is.)

13:3 Love is not about defending a point of view; even if I am prepared to give away everything I have and die a martyr’s death; love does not have to prove itself by acts of supreme devotion or self sacrifice!

13:4 Love is large in being passionate about life and relentlessly patient in bearing the offenses and injuries of others with kindness. Love is completely content and strives for nothing. Love has no desire to make others feel inferior and has no need to sing its own praises.

13:5 Love is predictable and does not behave out of character. Love is not ambitious. Love is not spiteful and gets no mileage out of another’s mistakes. (The word, paroxuno, translates as spiteful, it has no sharp edges.)

13:6 Love sees no joy in injustice. Love’s delight is in everything that truth celebrates.

13:7 Love is a fortress where everyone feels protected rather than exposed! Love’s persuasion is persistent! Love believes. Love never loses hope and always remains constant in contradiction.

Does God Exist?

Posted March 5, 2012

Does God Exist?

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the

barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and ... various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said:"I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?"asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving a God who would allow all of these things."
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:"You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?"asked the surprised barber."I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed.

"Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer.

"That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world.

God is Good ......

The gospel is the glad and merry news that God is good, he loves you, and he will happily give up everything he has so he can have you. Contrary to popular belief, God is not mad at you. He is not even in a bad mood. The good news declares that God is happy, he is for you, and he wants to share his life with you forever.

Jesus is proof of this. The veracity of the gospel is evidenced in his death and resurrection. On the cross God showed that he loved us while we were sinners and that he would rather die than live with-out us. And through the resurrection he proved that nothing—not even death—can separate us from the love that is ours in Jesus Christ.

Through our representative Jesus our heavenly Father has joined himself to us, promising never to leave nor forsake us. We stand secure, not on our feeble promises to him, but on his unconditional and unbreakable promises to us.

And that’s it: God loves you and wants to be with you. It’s simple but it’s the biggest truth in the universe. We will spend eternity discovering in a billion different ways the limitless expressions of his unending love. Indeed, this is what we were made for—to receive and respond to his divine love. This is the fundamental law of our existence and the reason for our being. This is the best news you ever heard.

Hurting People Hurt People

Posted Dec. 10, 2012

Hurting people hurt people. Because the majority of the church has been brought up on another gospel i.e. fear, hell, fire, brimstone,....force, manipulation, control,.....

For the most part WE ALL were born into the Kingdom with hell, fire, brimston
e, damnation,........Every seed produces after its own kind. This is a law, just like gravity, that God placed into flow and it is true here too. ALL they are focusing on is negative.

Every Seed Bears After Its Own Kind......

"If a negative feeling or a negative thought drives me to speak words or take actions this means that the outcome of those words and or actions will produce more of the negative feelings and or thoughts that started the whole process. I cannot be driven by negative feelings and ultimately have healthy positive outcomes. So many times I am moved by fear, desperation,...(a negative emotion) and I try to tell myself it is faith and in the end it all goes wrong and then I act like I don't understand why my faith failed. I have to notice what is driving me and if it is not harmonious with finished and completed work of Jesus Christ/REAL love I have to send it away and put on something else." ~ Dr. Jim Richards

If I am in negative emotional fear state (anger, bitterness, unforgivness, betrayal, self hatred, sorrow, sadness, insecurity, worthless, conflict, grief, self abuse, disdain, heartache, embarrassment, judgement, ......) when I am living, doing, teaching, sharing,..... then the results and the harvest is NOT going to be what I want. If I do something in a negative fear state then the harvest that I am going to get will NOT be what I want and that is where all the crazy negative nasty results come from. Because of what has been written on my heart/sub conscious....if the beliefs, feelings, emotions,...are out of a negative fear state I will produce a life of fear, chaos, hurt, discouragement,....

REAL love annihilates ALL fear. The REAL God is REAL love and perfect REAL love casts out ALL fear. When my foundation is built on REAL love and all my seed i.e. doctrine, teachings,....understanding, wisdom, knowledge,... emotions, feelings,..... comes out of REAL love then and only then will my house, life, health, wealth, relationships,.....stand and not be moved.
